He is the current AMA Guides Impairment Evaluations Trainer/Facilitator for Southern Africa and has trained more than 500 Impairment Assessors, including Medical Specialists, Allied Health and General Practitioners. He sits in the Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) Committee on Curriculum Review and Standards Development.

A member of the RAF Medical Experts as an Expert Impairment Rater. He is a member of the Compensation Fund Tribunal (relinguisehed the role in Feb 2025) and contributing independent member of the Committee on Schedule 3 review for COIDA. He is Current Medico-Legal Advisor to GENOA and runs Incapacity Programs for Industries in the Mining and Open Labour Markets. He is the Medical Expert on the General Damages Benefit Standardization project for the RAF. He is the medical contributor to the Medicolegal Report Writer One X-i.

Dr Nkuna is a recently appointed MDGuidelines Medical Advisory Board member, the role includes reviewing duration tables and other content associated with Health Advisor topics, approving or suggesting changes where needed, and reviewing projects and content ancillary to Health Advisor. The MDGuidelines are internationally recognized and used guide tables for durations and other health related determinants of function post an event, which even may be an injury or disease.

Dr Caswell Nkuna is the Founder of the HSBX Impairment Raters Community, a FREE membership community of raters trained on the application of the AMA Guidelines for purposes of capacitating and supporting Impairment Medical Evaluations in the Southern African region.
